EAST LANSING, Mich. – Jordan Thomas (Mohnton, Pa.) scored the game's only goal of the afternoon in the 103rd minute as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team edged Michigan State, 1-0. The win improves the Wildcats to 1-1-0 on the season as while the Spartans fall to 0-1-1.
The goal did not come until the second overtime period of sudden death when Josh Bronner (Belchertown, Mass.) placed a free kick with expert precision into the box, finding Thomas who would ultimately put it away to give the 'Cats the win.
Travis Worra (Lancaster, Pa.) was stellar in net for New Hampshire as he stopped all seven shots he faced on the afternoon while Michigan St. keeper Bryce Dobbins made two saves on the three shots that came his way. Michigan State tallied 19 total shots on the day while New Hampshire launched seven.
The squad returns to action Friday, August 31 as they host Marist at Bremner Field. The game will kick off at 7 p.m.
