MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO PORTLAND, 1-0
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of New
Hampshire men’s soccer team fell to the University of
Portland, 1-0, in the Wildcat’s final match of the 19th
Annual Smith Barney Classic on Sunday.
The Wildcats (1-3-1) posted three shots in the game, while the
Pilots (2-1-1) had nine, including the game-winning shot during the
65th minute.
Collen Warner delivered a shot, which was deflected to Colin
Barich, who found the back of the net to beat junior keeper
Colin O’Donnell (Hampden, Mass.) at 65:18.
O’Donnell made two saves in the game for the Wildcats, while
Portland’s Austin Guerrero stopped the lone shot on goal he
faced.
Brad Hilton (Merrimack, N.H.), Chris
Banks (Westborough, Mass.) and Dylan
George (Bangor, Maine) all posted a shot in the game for
the Wildcats. New Hampshire recorded two of its three shots during
the first half, while Portland had five shots in the final frame.
Sophomore midfielder Josh Bronner (Belchertown,
Mass.) was named the America East Man of the Match for the
Wildcats.
New Hampshire had two corner kick opportunities, one during each
period of play, while Portland had three, all during the opening
frame.
The Wildcats will return home Saturday, Sept. 19 to take on
Colgate University. Game time on Bremner Field is scheduled for 5
p.m.
