ABUJA, NIGERIA- Tunde Ogunbiyi (Gwynedd, Pa.), who will be a freshman (redshirt) goalkeeper on the University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team this fall, was called up to compete on the Under-23 Nigerian Olympic team. Nigeria will play a series of home and home matches against Ghana, Ethiopia and South Africa, as part of Group A.  The top team from Group A and the two other groups will qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Ogunbiyi joined the U-23’s in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, on August 10 to begin training camp at the national stadium. The Nigerian team will travel to Rottenburg, South African to play on August 22. The U-23 team will then travel to Addis Abada to face the Ethiopian team on September 8. Nigeria currently tops its group in Olympic qualifying after defeating the Black Meteors of Ghana, 3-2, in Abuja.

During the spring of 2007 Ogunbiyi made his UNH debut, letting up just one goal in six games of the Wildcats’ spring season.
