bURLINGTON, VT. The University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team split the weekend with a loss to Cornell, 1-0, during a Sunday morning match up at the UVM Smith Barney Soccer Classic.

Both teams played a scoreless first half with UNH outshooting Cornell 8-6 in the half. 

Cornell’s Dan Marks scored the lone goal from the right side into the left corner on a free kick in the 72nd minute with an assist off Brian Kuritzky.

New Hampshire (3-1-2) was called for 16 fouls as Cornell was called for nine.  The Wildcats finished with 13 shots while Cornell finished with 11 shots.

Yan Klukowski of Central Connecticut was named the tournament’s Offensive MVP while Vermont’s Corey Bonner was named the Defensive MVP.  Named to the All-Tournament team Central Connecticut’s Alex Harrison and David Tyrie, Jordan Crasilneck and Nick Mead of Vermont, Dan Marks, Luca Cerretani and Kyle Lynch of Cornell and Brian Levey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) , Mike McKee (Newtown, Pa.) and Scott Rowling (Richboro, Pa.) of New Hampshire.

New Hampshire (3-1-2) comes home to host Northeastern University on Friday September 15 at 4 p.m. on Bremner Field.
