MEN’S SOCCER TO HOST STONY BROOK IN AMERICA EAST FIRST ROUND
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team will host Stony Brook University in the first round of the America East Championship Saturday at 5 p.m. on Bremner Field.
    New Hampshire (11-4-3, 5-2-1 America East) finished with its most wins since the 1994 season and is seeded third for the upcoming tournament.  Stony Brook (6-11-1, 3-4-1 America East) is seeded sixth.
    The Wildcats return to the tournament since last qualifying in 2004.  This also marks the first time they have hosted a tournament match since 1994. 
    New Hampshire is led in scoring this season by freshman forward Chris Banks (Westborough, Mass.), who currently leads the conference with 12 goals and 24 points.  He has been named this year’s America East Striker of the Year as well as the Rookie of the Year. 
    Senior goalkeeper Brian Levey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has been named the America East Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight year.  Both Banks and Levey have also been named America East First Team All-Conference.  Junior defensive back John Bergqvist (Hollviken, Sweden) was named Second Team All-Conference.
    The winner will play at the University of Vermont against the Catamounts on November 1 at 1 p.m.
