OAKLAND, Calif. -- University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team freshman forward Chris Banks (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) has been named to the Soccer America Magazine National Men’s Team of the Week.
    Banks was named to the team for his excellent play for the week of October 9-15.
    Banks recorded his 11th goal of the season on October 14 at the University of Hartford when he buried the game-winning goal in the 50th minute to lift the Wildcats to a 2-1 victory.
    On October 10, in an eventual 5-1 win at the College of the Holy Cross, Banks gave UNH a commanding 3-0 advantage in the 12th minute with his 10th goal of the season.
    Banks scored his 12th goal of the season in a 3-0 win over UMBC on October 18 on Bremner Field.
    In 17 games this season, Banks leads the Wildcats in goals (12), points (24) and game-winning goals (3).
    Also named to the Soccer America Magazine National Men’s Team of the Week were UC Riverside goalie Charles Alamo, Denver defensive back Josh Fallin, Northern Illinois defensive back Drew Jeskey, California defensive back Steve Purdy, Wake Forest defensive back Julian Valentin, Lehigh defensive back Joe Verdi, Harvard midfielder Michael Fucito, Gonzaga midfielder John Reha, Towson forward Angus Burke and Boston College forward Charlie Davies.
    UNH, which recently clinched a playoff spot in the America East Tournament, has been ranked 10th in the Northeast region by the NSCAA.
     UNH (11-4-2, 5-2-0 America East) will close out its regular season at Stony Brook at 7 p.m.
