MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO VERMONT 1-0

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of Vermont men's soccer team parlayed a goal in the first five minutes into a 1-0 win over the University of New Hampshire Wednesday afternoon at Lewis Field. UNH falls to 6-6-0 and 1-3-0 in America East play while the Catamounts improved to 2-7-4 and 1-2-1 in league action.

John Antonucci netted the only goal of the match at the 3:57 mark. He took a ball played out of the right side of the box by Ethan Hutchins three yards in front of the goal. After UNH keeper Brian Levey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) came out to play the ball, Antonucci got by him and fired the ball on the ground into the right corner of the net.

UNH had plenty of chances to tie, generating 13 corner kicks in the second half and generating a 12-8 shot advantage for the match, but couldn't come up with the equalizer.

Levey stopped one Catamount shot in goal, while David Sullivan turned away four Wildcat attempts for his fourth shutout of the season.

UNH returns to action Saturday (October 18) when it travels to America East newcomer University of Maryland, Baltimore County for a 1:00 pm game. The next Wildcat home game is October 25, when New Hampshire entertains Stony Brook in a 1:00 match.
