BOSTON - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Boston University Wednesday evening at Nickerson Field. UNH now stands at 6-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in America East action, while the Terriers improve to 6-5-1 (1-0-1 AE).
The host Terriers opened up the game with a pair of goals in the first 14:02 of the contest. BU's Alan McNamara recorded a goal at the 12:50 mark, and Sedrick Chin netted the first of his goals 1:12 later to give Boston University a 2-0 lead. Chin added an insurance goal with just under five minutes to play in the match.
Mike Vignola (Hudson, N.H.) turned away seven shots in net for New Hampshire, while BU's Chad Comroe made four saves to pick up the shutout.
Wednesday night's loss snapped a four game unbeaten streak against Boston University for the Wildcats, as the Terriers had not defeated UNH since the 1998 season.
UNH returns to action on Sunday (October 12) when it hosts Hartford in an America East contest. That game is slated for a 2:00 start at Lewis Field.
