DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire head men's soccer coach Rob Thompson announced Monday the completion of the 2002 recruiting class with six additional freshman that will join the program. The six are Mike Card (Amherst, N.H.), Jason Kantapin (Manchester, N.H.), Jonathan Burg (New Milford, Conn.), Ryan Eaton (Horsham, Pa.), Matt Pachniuk (Newtown, Conn.) and Scott Welle (Branchville, N.J.).

UNH, which is battling for a playoff spot, improved to 5-5-3 and 3-2-2 in league play. Hartford, which had been tied with Towson atop the America East standings coming into the game, dropped to 9-3-2 and 5-1-1.

BOSTON - Alan McNamara's second goal of the game with just under 10 minutes remaining lifted the Boston University Terriers to a 2-2 tie with the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team Friday night at Nickerson Field. The tie kept UNH (4-4-2) in a deadlock with BU (6-4-1) in the America East standings. Both teams are 2-1-1 in league play.




ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany used a wind-blown goal early in the second half to beat the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team, 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Varsity Field in Albany. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the 'Cats and dropped their overall record to 4-4-1 and 2-1-0 in AMERICA EAST. Albany improved to 6-3-0 and 3-0-0.




DURHAM, N.H. - Junior Josh McGeachey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) scored one goal and assisted on the other two as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated America East newcomer Stony Brook, 3-1 Friday afternoon at Lewis Field. With the victory, the Wildcats improved to 4-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in America East. The Seawolves dropped to 3-3-1 and 0-2-0.

The win left Hartwick as the only team in the tournament with two wins and gave them the tourney title.

The match was BC's third exhibition in the preseason, while the game served as the 'Cats first and only tuneup prior to the regular season.




BOSTON - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team was picked to finish ninth in America East in the preseason coaches poll released today. The University of Vermont, with 100 points and four first-place votes, was picked as the preseason favorite by the coaches.
