UNH MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATED BY DELAWARE, 3-1

Newark, Del. - Mike Honeysett scored two second half goals to lead the University of Delaware to a 3-1 victory over the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team Sunday afternoon at Delaware Mini Stadium.

With the win, the Blue Hens (7-9-1, 4-4-1) moved into sole possession of sixth place in the America East playoff race and now lead UNH by one point with two games remaining for each club. The top six teams in the conference make the playoffs, which get underway Nov. 7. Albany, which entered the day with nine points, could also pass the 'Cats pending the outcome of its match at Hofstra to be played later on Sunday (10/28) at Hofstra.

After battling to a 1-1 tie at halftime, UNH was a dealt a severe blow when back Christian Pauckstadt (Wuppertal, Germany) was whistled for his second yellow card of the match, forcing the Wildcats to play a man-down for the remainder of the game.

Delaware cashed in on the opportunity when Honeysett scored his sixth goal of the season at 63:22 to make it 2-1. He followed that 10 minutes later with his seventh of the season off a rebound to make it 3-1 Delaware.

UNH struck first at 14:20 of the first half on a breakaway goal by forward Josh Hareld (North Kingstown, R.I.). It was Hareld's team-leading eighth goal of the season. Delaware tied it at 37:53 on a Kyle Shilcock-Elliot goal.

Wildcat netminder Shaun O'Neil (Wrentham, Mass.) made six saves in net for UNH while Blue Hen keeper Kyle Haynes stopped six UNH shots.

The Wildcats return home to take on Drexel Friday (11/2) and Hofstra Sunday (11/4) at Lewis Fields. Gametimes are noontime on Friday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
