DURHAM, N.H. - Two goals and two assists by Jonathan Westmaas (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago) propelled Hartwick College to a 4-0 victory over the University of New Hampshire in the finale of the 12th Annual Nike Fall Soccer Classic at Lewis Field. The win left Hartwick as the only team in the tournament with two wins and gave them the tourney title.
Hartwick (2-0-0) got on the board when Neil McLean (Oldmeldrum, Scotland) scored on an assist from Westmaas. McLean, the tournament MVP, would then assist on Westmaas' goal off a corner kick to make it 2-0 at the 54:55 mark.
After Greg Victor (Newark, Del.) scored off a Westmaas feed in the 70th minute, Westmaas dribbled in the box and scored an unassisted goal at 73:55 to close out the scoring.
Shaun O'Neil stopped five shots for UNH (0-2-0). Randall Moate (Lititz, Pa.) played the first 54:55 in net and did not stop a Wildcat shot before coming out due to injury. He was replaced by Adam Parsells (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.) who stopped one shot.
Named to the All-Tournament Team for UNH were Ryan DiNunzio (Kenmore, N.Y.) and Tyler Jackson (Amherst, N.H.). Moate, Matt Strode (Devon, England) and Aaron Robinson (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) were the All-Tournament honorees for the Hawks.
UNH returns to action on Saturday (9/8) when it faces Holy Cross in the first round of the UVM Smith Barney Classic. Game time is noon.
