DURHAM, N.H. - The 2001 edition of the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will feature three fifth-year seniors on the roster. Andy Karam (Schenectady, N.Y.), Shaun O'Neil (Wrentham, Mass.) and Tyler Tibbs (Beaverton, Ore.) will all return for their senior seasons of eligibility.




DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire head men's soccer coach Rob Thompson announced today that James Doherty (Durham, N.H.) has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer for the Wildcats starting with the 2001 season. In addition, the 'Cats also announced that Chad Green (Canyon, Texas), Tim and Todd Kratt (Hampton, N.H), Chris Tierney (Amherst, N.H.) and Mike Vignola (Hudson, N.H.) will all join the men's soccer squad for the 2001 season.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will be in action for the final time this spring on Saturday, April 28 as the three Division I soccer programs in New Hampshire and Maine will meet at Marshwood H.S. in Berwick, Maine.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will be preparing for the upcoming 2001 campaign by competing in a series of scrimmages during the month of April. The schedule is as follows:




DURHAM, N.H. - The Friends of UNH Soccer will be holding a golf tournament on Monday, May 7 at Pease Golf Club in Portsmouth, N.H as part of Alumni Weekend. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. and features prizes valued at more than $1000. The scramble is open to the public and is not limited to UNH alumni. Although prizes will be awarded, the tournament is essentially for fun and allows alumni and friends to gather to support Wildcat soccer, as proceeds from the tournament benefit the University of New Hampshire men's soccer program.




The eleventh annual UNH residential soccer camp will be held July 21-25 and is open to boys, ages 10-18. The camp is directed by UNH head men's soccer coach Rob Thompson. Current UNH wildcat players will assist a nationally licensed coaching staff with college and professional experience. Specialized goalkeeper training and a senior select training group make this an exciting week of soccer. Cost of the camp is $455 and is limited to the first 150 campers.




HAMPTON, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team participated in the NIKE/Portsmouth Regional Hospital Cup indoor tournament hosted at the Seacoast United Indoor Arena this past Saturday (2/24) and came away with a second-place finish in the A-Flight. The tournament featured 16 teams consisting mostly of local colleges and universities along with a sprinkling of club teams.




DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire head men's soccer coach Rob Thompson announced today the signing of two recruits to national letters-of-intent. Tyler Jackson (Amherst, N.H.) and Logan Lee (Racine, Wis.) have both committed to the UNH program for the 2001 season.

Karam was named to the All-Conference Second Team, while Hankard was named to the all-Rookie team.




HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team closed out the 2000 season with a 1-0 loss to Hofstra University here this afternoon. New Hampshire closes out the year at 6-10-0 and 3-6-0 in America East, while the Pride improved to 10-4-3 overall and 6-2-1 in the league.




PHILADELPHIA - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Drexel University this afternoon. The win improves the Dragons to 9-5-1 overall and 5-3-0 in America East. New Hampshire now stands at 6-9-0 and 3-5-0 in America East.




DURHAM, N.H. - Senior Adam Purcell (Barrington, R.I.) made his final home game a memorable one as he netted two goals to lead the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over the University of Delaware here this afternoon. The loss snaps a four-game losing streak for the 'Cats and improves them to 6-8-0 overall and 3-4-0 in America East. Delaware falls to 3-13-0 and 1-6-0 in the league.




DURHAM, N.H. - Towson University posted a 4-2 victory over the University of New Hampshire in men's soccer action here at Lewis Field this afternoon. The win improves the Tigers to 7-6-1 overall and 4-1-1 in America East, while the Wildcats record now stands at 5-8-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the league.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will close out its 2000 regular-season home slate this weekend with a pair of games at Lewis Field. On Friday, October 20, the 'Cats will take on the Tigers of Towson University in a 3:00 game. On Sunday, UNH will close the 2000 home schedule with a 2:00 contest against Delaware.

DURHAM, N.H. - Sophomore Ben Dawson's (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England) goal with less than eight minutes remaining in overtime lifted No. 6 Penn State University to a 2-1 victory over the University of New Hampshire in second-round action of the Nike Fall Soccer Classic. With the victory, the Nittany Lions claimed the 2000 Nike Fall Soccer Classic championship. The win improved Penn State to 2-0-0, while UNH dropped to 1-1-0.

On Saturday, Vermont will face No. 6 Penn State at 12:30 while host UNH plays St. Bonaventure at 3. On Sunday, Vermont takes on St. Bonaventure at 12:30 while the 'Cats will square off against PSU at 3. All games are at Lewis Field on the UNH campus and admission each day is $5 with children $2.




DURHAM, N.H. - Five players hailing from New Hampshire will be suiting up for the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team this season, the most since the 1997 season. Sophomore Jon Martin of Bedford returns to the squad for his second season, while freshmen Justin Blanchette of Canterbury, Matt Glode of Barrington, Jamey Haughton of Hampton and Brett Wyman of Durham will be putting on the UNH blue and white for sixth-year head coach Rob Thompson.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will host the University of Rhode Island Rams in a preseason scrimmage at Lewis Field Saturday, August 26 at 2 p.m. The game is open to the public at no admission charge.




BOSTON - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team was picked to finish eighth in America East in the preseason coaches poll released today. The University of Hartford was chosen by the coaches to repeat as conference champion.
