DURHAM, N.H. - Junior Andy Karam (Schenectady, N.Y.) recorded two goals and an assist to lead the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over the University of Maine in action here this afternoon. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Wildcats as they improved to 4-4-0 and 1-0-0 in America East, while Maine falls to 1-4-1 on the year and 0-1-0 in the league.

Karam netted his first goal in the 33rd minute when freshman Nicola Chicco (Claymont, Del.) served the ball over the top of a Maine defender to Karam, who deposited the ball in the right side of the net. With time winding down in the first half, Chicco would score on a feed from Karam to make it 2-0 heading into halftime.

In the 84th minute, Karam received a long pass from senior Drew Ferrigno (Springfield, Mass.) and put the ball into the net on the left side from 15 yards out to make it 3-0.

New Hampshire outshot Maine 12-1 in the first half and owned a 16-4 shot advantage for the game.

Junior Shaun O'Neil (Wrentham, Mass.) went the distance in net for UNH and turned away two shots en route to his second shutout of the season. Mat Cosgriff (Cornish Flat, N.H.) turned away three shots for the Black Bears.

UNH returns to action next Friday (10/6) when it hosts Boston University in a conference tilt at 3:30 p.m. Maine faces Holy Cross in Portland, Maine on Tuesday (10/3) at 7 p.m.
