Vermont Defeats UNH Men's Soccer 1-0 in OT

DURHAM, N.H.-Sophomore midfielder Jason Allen scored on a penalty kick just over four minutes into overtime to lift the University of Vermont men's soccer team over the University of New Hampshire 1-0 Friday. The Wildcats fall to 4-6-1 and Vermont improves to 6-3-1.

The game was a defensive battle between the two teams. Both teams could not capitalize on scoring opportunities during regulation and the game went into overtime. With over four minutes into the extra session, Allen was awarded a penalty kick. His shot went past senior goaltender Mitch Osman (Herndon, Va.) for the game winner.

Osman made eight saves and Catamount keeper Chris Shaver stopped five shots.

The Wildcats host the University of Hartford Sunday at 1 p.m.
