Boston, Mass. -- Junior Adam Purcell (Barrington, R.I.) scored a pair of late second half goals as the University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team and Boston University played to a 2-2 double overtime draw Friday night. UNH now stands at 4-4-1 and BU is 3-2-4.
In the first half, BU got on the board early when Kirk Miller put a 20 yard shot past Wildcat senior goaltender Mitch Osman (Herndon, Va.) for a 1-0 lead. Both teams battle for most of the game until Terrier Frank Vigliotti extended BU’s lead to 2-0 at the 72:56 mark. Purcell struck 43 seconds later on a deflection from a free kick to cut the lead 2-1. Wildcat senior Zach Zeldner (Glastonbury, Conn.) recorded the assist. Two minutes later, Purcell tied the game 2-2 on an assist from senior Aaron Brunner (Hylton, Va.).
In the overtime period, BU had two chances to win the game, but Osman stopped both shots.
UNH travels to Northeastern Sunday for a 1 p.m. start. They return home Friday Oct. 8 to take on Vermont at 3:30 p.m.
