UNH Men's Soccer Shuts Out Hartwick 3-0

Oneonta, N.Y.-Junior forward Adam Purcell (Barrington, R.I.) recorded a hat trick as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Hartwick College 3-0 Saturday. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 4-4 and Hartwick falls to 2-3.

In the first half, Purcell put the Wildcats on the board 17 minutes into the game when he put in a rebound off of the crossbar for a 1-0 lead. Senior forward Jay Heimgartner (Wethersfield, Conn.) recorded the assist.

Purcell scored his second and third goals in the second half on assists from junior back Drew Ferrigno (Southwick, Mass.) and Heimgartner.

UNH junior goaltender Shaun O'Neil (Wrentham, Mass.) earned his first career shutout, stopping 10 shots. Hartwick keeper Matt Kessler made five saves in the loss.

The Wildcats travel to Boston University on Friday for a 7 p.m. game. They face off against Northeastern Sunday Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. in Boston.
