MCGUFFIN'S 3RD-PLACE FINISH HIGHLIGHTS DAY 3 AT UVM CARNIVAL; SKI TEAM FINISHES IN 3RD PLACE

Dylan McGuffin (Northfield, N.H.) raced to third
place in the men’s 15K freestyle race and the University of
New Hampshire ski team held on to third place overall in
Sunday’s final day of competition at the University of
Vermont Winter Carnival.
The UNH men’s Nordic squad compiled 81 points in the 15K free
and the women’s team amassed 79 points in the 10K free to
increase the Wildcats’ three-day total to 745. Dartmouth
College won the 13-team event with 890 points and was followed
closely by UVM (882 points).
McGuffin completed the 15K free course at the Trapp Family Lodge in
27 minutes, 7.9 seconds to finish in third place overall.
Michael Lessard (Greene, Maine) crossed the finish
line in 28:27.0 to take 21st place and Harrison
Harb (Contoocook, N.H.) edged teammate Erick
Anderson (Maplewood, Minn.) for 34th place in a time of
29:09.1. Anderson finished in 35th place at 29:10.6.
Anya Caldwell Bean (Wolfeboro, N.H.) was the top
‘Cat in the 10K free. She finished in 13th place overall with
a time of 33:54.3. Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah)
completed the course in 34:12.8 to take 16th place and
Danielle Baron (Gilford, N.H.) rounded out the
team scoring in 20th place with a time of 34:24.9.Katie
Miller (Lenox, Mass.) finished directly behind Baron in
21st place at 34:26.2.
The New Hampshire ski team returns to action Feb. 12-13 at the
Dartmouth Winter Carnival. The alpine events will be held at the
Dartmouth Skiway (Lyme Center, N.H.) while the Nordic races will be
contested at the Dartmouth Cross Country Ski Center (Hanover,
N.H.).
