Fan Information - Men's Hockey Travels to Providence for Hockey East Quarterfinals - March 15-17

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- The Hockey East Association announced the pairings for the upcoming 29th annual Hockey East Tournament on Saturday night, which begins next weekend with the best-of-three quarterfinal round on campus sites of the top four seeds.

UNH will travel to No. 4 seeded Providence College starting Friday night at Schneider Arena (7 p.m.). The Friars host a quarterfinal series for the first time since 2003. Providence won the season matchup with the Wildcats, 2-0-1. UNH owns a 10-4 record vs. PC in all-time tournament play, which includes a 8-4 record in quarterfinal play. The teams last meet in the 2007 quarterfinals, a 2-0 UNH series sweep. Saturday's game will be a 4 p.m. start with TV coverage on NESN. Sunday's game, if necessary, would be a 4:30 p.m. start.

All series will start on Friday, March 15 with the exception of UMass-Lowell vs. Maine matchup, which will start on Thursday night, March 14 due to a scheduling conflict at the Tsongas Center on Saturday. NBC Sports Network will broadcast a game on Friday, March 15 (7pm), while Saturday's NESN game drops the puck at 4pm and NESN's Sunday potential Game 3 will start at 4:30pm.

The Hockey East Regular-Season Champion and top seed UMass-Lowell River Hawks will entertain the University of Maine on Thursday night from the Tsongas Center. The Black Bears won the regular-season series, 2-1-0. Maine owns a 14-1 all-time vs. the River Hawks in the Hockey East playoffs, including a 9-1 record in the quarterfinal round. The River Hawks won their first Hockey East regular- season championship in school history on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory at Providence College.

No. 2 seed Boston College will play host to No. 7 seed Vermont at Conte Forum, beginning Friday night. The Eagles went 2-0-1 agains the Catamounts in the season series, which included a three-point weekend for BC in the final weekend of the regular-season. BC is 4-0 all-time vs. Vermont in the playoffs and 2-0 in the quarterfinal round. The two teams last met in the 2010 semifinals, a 3-0 shutout for the Eagles.

No. 3 seed Boston University will faceoff with No. 6 seed Merrimack at Agganis Arena, beginning on Friday night. The Terriers swept the season series vs. Merrimack. BU owns a 5-3 all-time mark vs. the Warriors in the Hockey East playoffs with all the meetings coming in the quarterfinal round. The teams last met in 2010, with BU winning a three-game set.

All quarterfinal games will by streamed live by Pack Network on www.hockeyeastonline.tv for $8.95 per game, with the exception of the NBC Sports Network game on Friday and the NESN games on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, which will be announced on Sunday.
