WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Freshman forward Kevin Goumas (Lake Worth, Fla.) of the seventh-ranked University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month for February. The announcement was made Tuesday by the league office. Goumas collected Hockey East Rookie of the Week three out of four weeks during the month on Feb. 7, 21 and 28.
Goumas, who becomes the first Wildcat rookie to win this award since James van Riemsdyk did so in March 2008, scored 11 points in eight contests with four goals and seven assists. He registered a point in six of eight games with three multi-point efforts. Goumas netted the game-winning goal against Maine on Feb. 4 and scored the game-tying goal against Northeastern on Feb. 25.
UNH returns to action March 4-5 for a home-and-home series with No. 2 Boston College.
