DETROIT -- The 2010 Hobey Baker Award will be presented on Friday, April 9 as part of “Friday Night at the Frozen Four” between the semifinals and finals of the NCAA Championship. This year's announcement will be televised live nationally on ESPNU beginning at 7 p.m.
Bobby Butler (Marlboro, Mass.), a senior forward and captain of the 11th-ranked University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team, was named a “Hat Trick” Finalist by the Hobey Baker Award Foundation on March 31. The other two finalists are Gustav Nyquist (Maine) and Blake Geoffrion (Wisconsin).
The three finalists were selected from the initial list of Top Ten candidates by the 24-member Selection Committee and an additional round of online fan balloting to determine this year’s Hobey Baker winner. Criteria for the award includes: strength of character on and off the ice, displaying outstanding skills in all phases of the game, sportsmanship and scholastic achievements.
