MEN’S HOCKEY RANKED 16TH IN PRESEASON USCHO.COM/CSTV POLL

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was picked 16th in the nation in the USCHO.com./CSTV preseason poll which was released on Monday afternoon.

The Wildcats garnered 236 points in the poll and are among six Hockey East teams in the top 20.

New Hampshire, which won an exhibition 8-1 over Acadia on Saturday night, opens the 2009-10 season Oct. 10 (7 p.m.) at Rensselaer. The Wildcats play host to top-ranked Miami University for a two-game series Oct. 16-17. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

The USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll, published weekly by the Associated Press, is a joint production of USCHO.com, which provides in-depth coverage of college sports, including hockey, lacrosse, soccer and others, and CBS College Sports Networks, Inc., the only digital media company dedicated solely to college sports. CBS College Sports operates a 24-hour college sports cable network, also available via DISH and DirecTV satellite.
