DURHAM, N.H.
– A pair of University of New Hampshire men’s
hockey alumni recently signed professional contracts. Former
teammates Jason Krog (Fernie, B.C.) and
Darren Haydar (Milton, Ontario) inked NHL deals
with the Atlanta Thrashers and Colorado Avalanche,
respectively.
Krog (1995-99), UNH's only Hobey Baker Award winner (1999),
finished his Wildcat career second on the all-time scoring list
(238 points) and was the all-time leader in assists (144).
Haydar (1998-02), a Hobey Hat Trick finalist in 2002, finished his
UNH career second all-time in goals (102) and third in both points
and assists.
The pair is two of New Hampshire’s most notable men’s
hockey alumni and combined to lead the Wildcats to four Frozen
Fours in their time in Durham. In 2008, Haydar and Krog helped lead
the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League to the Calder Cup.
This past season, Krog helped the Manitoba Moose advance to the
Calder Cup finals, while Haydar and the Grand Rapids Griffins were
Calder Cup quarterfinalists.
