Matt Fornataro
WAKEFIELD, MASS. – Senior captain Matt Fornataro (Calgary, Alberta) of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was named CCM/Reebok Hockey East Player of the Week, for the first time this season. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon by the league office.

Fornataro registered three goals and an assist in UNH's weekend sweep of fourth-ranked Colorado College. The senior captain scored a critical goal 15 seconds into the second period on Friday night that cut the lead to 3-2 and paved the way to the come-from-behind win. Fornataro secured the win for the Wildcats with an empty-net goal in the final minute. On Saturday, Fornataro scored the game's first goal (a power-play goal) at 2:50 in the second period. He also helped setup a Brad Flaishans goal that made it 2-1 at the time. The senior first liner has scored at least a goal in each of the first three games and have six points in three games this season.

The No. 4-ranked Wildcats (3-0-0) will face Northeastern (1-3-0) on Friday at Matthews Arena in Boston (7 p.m.) and will play host to the Huskies on Saturday (7 p.m.) at Whittemore Center.
