WAKEFIELD, Mass.  – Freshman forward Bobby Butler (Marlboro, Mass.) of the No. 5 ranked University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was named Superskills Hockey Rookie of the Week by the Hockey East Associaion on Monday.
    Butler had a career weekend scoring three points (2g, 1a) in the Hockey East Championships at the TD Banknorth Garden in two games. Butler started the weekend tying his career-high with two points (1g, 1a) on Friday night vs. Massachusetts in the league semifinal scoring the game-winning goal just 1:30 into double overtime to send the Wildcats to the Hockey East championship game. He also added a goal in UNH’s 5-2 loss to Boston College in the Championship game on Saturday night.
    He has notched 12 points (9g, 3a) in his first season as a Wildcat playing in 37 of 38 games for UNH. Butler is the leading rookie scorer on the Wildcats and his nine goals are tied for the fifth best total on UNH’s roster. His point total is tied for 15th best among league rookies. He has scored a point in 10 games this season with two multi-point efforts. Butler has recorded four points (3g, 1a) in his last three games.
    The No. 1 seed Wildcat men’s hockey team (26-10-2, 18-7-2 HE) will take on No. 4 seed Miami University in the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.
