DURHAM, N.H. - Preston Callander (Regina, Sask.) and Sean Collins (Reading, Mass.) both recorded a goal and assist to lead the sixth-ranked University of New Hampshire men's hockey team to Friday night's 4-3 Hockey East victory against Northeastern University at the Whittemore Center.

UNH won its third consecutive game to improve to 7-2-1 overall, 4-1-0 Hockey East. NU is now 5-4-1, 2-1-0.

Both teams scored a special team goal in the first period as they skated to a 1-1 tie. UNH took a 1-0 lead at 13:02 when Mike Radja (Yorkville, Ill.) netted a shorthanded goal. He collected a pass from Josh Ciocco (Atco, N.J.) at mid-ice, entered the offensive zone at the right point and maneuvered past a defender to the high slot, where his shot trickled into the net.

Bryan Cirullo tied the score, 1-1, with a power-play goal at 18:11 when his low, screened shot from the high slot sailed inside the right post. Tim Judy, with a centering pass from the right point, and Joe Santilli were credited with assists.

Callander put the Wildcats back in front, 2-1, with a power-play goal at 3:00 of the second period. Robbie Barker (Concord, N.H.) initiated the scoring sequence with a pass from the right point to Collins in the near circle. A centering pass to Brett Hemingway (Surrey, B.C.) was touched back to Callander, who fired a shot into the open left side of the net.

The Huskies pulled even, 2-2, on the first even-strength goal of the night. Shortly after Gibson denied UNH's Justin Aikins (Surrey, B.C.) on a breakaway, Jared Mudryk and Bryan Esner combined to produce a 2-on-1 goal at 8:10. Jon Awe's pass through the neutral zone connected with Esner, whose crossing pass from the left circle set up an open right side for Mudryk to shoot at.

Collins gave the 'Cats their third lead of the night, 3-2, at 17:06 of the middle stanza. Tyson Teplitsky (Saskatoon, Sask.) stopped a clearing attempt at the left point and feathered a pass to the right circle, where Collins fired a shot into the upper-right corner.

Daniel Winnik (Mississauga, Ont.) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal when he extended New Hampshire's lead to 4-2 at 2:09 of the third period. Jacob Micflikier (Winnipeg, Man.) set up the tally with a pass from the left corner to the low slot, where Winnik shot the puck inside the left post.

NU pulled within one goal, 4-3, just 2:17 later when Santilli's centering pass from behind the net was converted into a goal by Tim Judy. Jason Guerriero was also credited with an assist.

Huskies' goalie Keni Gibson, who finished with 27 saves, was pulled for the final 40 seconds of the game in favor of an extra skater. UNH goaltender Jeff Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, Mass.) made the last of his 12 saves in the third period on a diving effort by Awe as time expired. Pietrasiak finished with 28 saves.

New Hampshire and Northeastern conclude the home-and-home series Nov.20 (7 p.m.) at NU's Matthews Arena. The next Wildcat home game is Dec. 3 vs. Clarkson University. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
