WAKEFIELD, Mass.-- Sophomore forward Daniel Winnik (Mississauga, Ont.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named CCM Hockey Player of the Week as announced by the Hockey East office on Monday afternoon.
Winnik recorded his first career hat trick with one goal in each period, including the game-winner, in the 4-3 victory over Boston University on Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.
Winnik, in his second season at UNH, has posted seven points (4g,3a) in seven contests this year. His seven points rank third on the team and his four goals are second best on the 'Cats roster. He has registered eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 45 career games as a Wildcat. Winnik has already matched his goal production from his freshman season skating in 38 games for UNH.
The Wildcat men's hockey team (4-2-1 overall, 1-1-0 HE) returns to action on Friday, Nov. 12 vs. Providence College. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
