UNH's Pietrasiak named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass.-- Junior goaltender Jeff Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Pietrasiak stopped 44 of 48 shots by the Wolverines in the 4-4 tie with No. 3 ranked Michigan on Friday night at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. Pietrasiak made 21 saves in the third period and set a new career-high for saves in a game, breaking his previous mark which he set on Jan. 9, 2004 at Providence with 33 stops.

In two starts this season, he owns a 1-0-1 record with a 2.40 GAA and a .924 save percentage.

The Wildcat men's hockey team (2-1-1 overall) returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 vs. Mercyhurst. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
