BOSTON - Senior forward Sean Collins (Reading, Mass.) and junior defenseman Brian Yandle (Milton, Mass.) have been named to the New England All-Star college hockey team, as voted by the New England Hockey Writers Association.
Collins played all 42 games for the Wildcats in the 2004-05 season, leading the team with 37 assists and 56 points. He finished his UNH career by playing 164 games, the most by a Wildcat in a career, notching 77 goals and 96 assists for 173 points, tied for 12th on the UNH career points list.
Yandle was the top-scoring defenseman in Hockey East, averaging 0.85 points per game with 13 goals and 22 assists in 41 games played. Yandle was third on the team with nine power play goals and notched two four-point games during the season, including a two-goal, two-assist performance against conference rival UMass-Lowell on January 29.
Both Collins and Yandle continue to add awards after their stellar seasons. The two players previously earned Second Team All-Hockey East recognition, with Yandle also earning a spot on the Hockey East All-Tournament Team. Collins shared MVP honors at the Icebreaker Tournament, while Yandle was named to the Icebreaker All-Tournament Team.
The New England Hockey Writers All-Stars and award winners will be honored at the annual banquet on Wednesday, April 13.
