WAKEFIELD, Mass.-Sophomore forward Jacob Micflikier (Winnpeg, Man.) and freshman goaltender Kevin Regan (South Boston, Mass.) were named CCM Player of the Week and Superskills Rookie of the Week as announced by the Hockey East Association on Monday afternoon.
Micflikier won Player of the Week honors for the second time in his Wildcat career with a six point performance on the week (5g,1a) against Massachusetts, including his third career hat trick on Friday night at the Whittemore Center and another two-goal effort on Saturday night at the Mullins Center in two wins vs. UMass.
In 30 games this season Micflikier ranks fourth on the Wildcats in scoring with 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points. His 16 goals is the third best total on the UNH roster. In league play, Micflikier ranks tied for second among Hockey East skaters with 12-10-22 in 18 conference games.
Regan earned Superskills Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season and its marks the second consecutive week he has garnered the league's top rookie accolade. Regan stopped 49 of 51 shots by the Minutemen in two wins this past week, including a 34-save effort in the 6-1 win on Saturday in Amherst.
In 11 starts in his freshman campaign, Regan owns a 10-1-0 record with a 2.23 GAA and a .930 save percentage. Regan has won his last five starts with a 1.60 GAA and a .944 save percentage. In league play, he owns a perfect 7-0-0 mark with a 2.05 GAA and a .933 save percentage. Regan leads the nation among Div. I goalies with a .909 winning percentage.
The No. 8 ranked Wildcats (20-7-3, 13-3-2 HE) return to action on Wednesday, February 16 at Merrimack College. Game time at Thom Lawler is 7 p.m. The game will be televised live by NESN.
