RALEIGH, N.C. — Freshman forward Daniel Winnik (Mississauga, Ont.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team and incoming freshman defenseman Craig Switzer (Peachland, B.C.) were selected in the final day of the 2004 NHL Draft on Sunday at the RBC Center, home of the Carolina Hurricanes.




Wakefield, MASS.- The Hockey East Association honored 38 men's hockey student-athletes who were named to the conference All-Academic Team on Monday afternoon.

DURHAM, N.H.- Head coach Dick Umile of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey program has announced the signing of six student-athletes for the 2004-2005 season. DURHAM, N.H. — Senior co-captain Steve Saviano (Reading, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team headlined the list of award winners at the annual team awards banquet held at the Whittemore Center on Saturday afternoon. BOSTON — Senior co-captain Steve Saviano (Reading, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named the 2004 recipient of the Herb Gallagher Award, given annually to New England's Most Outstanding Forward, as announced by the New England Hockey Writers Association.




COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former University of New Hampshire goaltender Ty Conklin (Anchorage, Alaska) was one of 17 players selected by USA Hockey to a preliminary roster for the 2004 United States Men’s National Team. Team USA will compete at the 2004 International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship, to be held April 24-May 9 in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic. The remaining six members will be named later this month to fill-out the 23-player roster.

ORONO, Maine. – The Maine men’s ice hockey team notched a 5-0 shutout win over New Hampshire on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 5,641 fans at Alfond Arena to sweep the weekend series. The Black Bears have set a new single season record with six shutouts this year – two by Jimmy Howard and four by Frank Doyle. Maine, ranked third in the nation, is now 19-6-1 overall and are in third place in Hockey East with a 11-4-1 conference record. New Hampshire is 15-9-3 overall and 7-5-3 in Hockey East.
