UNH HOCKEY SELECTED SECOND IN HOCKEY EAST PRESEASON POLL

BOSTON - The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team has been voted second in the preseason Hockey East poll as selected by the nine Hockey East coaches, the announcement was made Thursday at Hockey East media day at the FleetCenter.

The Wildcats received two first place votes and 53 points, while Boston University earned the top spot earning six first place votes and 61 points. In the 2001-2002 season, the 'Cats earned the fourth spot in the preseason poll and they went on to win the regular-season title with a 17-4-3 record in league play.

UNH opens the 2002-2003 season with an exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 5 vs. St. Francis Xavier. Face off is 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center.
