WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior forward Jim Abbott (Mars, Pa.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named the KOHO Player of the Week by the Hockey East Association on Monday afternoon.

Abbott, who won the award for the first time in his Wildcat career, registered four goals and one assist for five points in last weekend's Hockey East quarterfinal series vs. UMass-Lowell. He recorded his first career hat trick in the 8-4 win over Lowell on Friday night and added two points (1g, 1a) in Game No. 2 on Saturday evening. The second of his three goals proved to be the game-winning goal in the series opener.

Abbott has tallied 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points this season, which ranks fourth on the Wildcats squad.

The No. 1 seeded UNH men's hockey team returns to action in the Hockey East semifinals on Friday, March 14th vs. the No. 6 seed University of Massachusetts Minutemen. Game time is 5 p.m. at the FleetCenter.
