DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire junior goaltender Ty Conklin (Anchorage, Alaska) was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday.
It is the fourth league honor in a row for Conklin as the netminder was named Defensive Player of the Week last week and Player of the Week and Goaltender of the Month two weeks ago.
This past weekend, Conklin led the Wildcats to two non-league wins over St. Lawrence (3-1) and Clarkson (6-0), stopping 55 of 56 shots he faced. In addition, the victory against Clarkson was Conklin's first career shutout and was the Wildcats first blanking since Feb. 14, 1998.
Conklin currently holds a nation's best 13-1-1 overall record and 7-0-1 mark in league play. He has registered a league-best 2.09 goals against average and a .930 save percentage.
The Wildcats enter the semester break first in the nation and hold first-place in Hockey East with a 7-0-1 league mark and 14-2-1 mark overall. UNH next plays against Dartmouth at the Whittemore Center Arena on Jan. 3.
