DURHAM, N.H. —University of New Hampshire junior goaltender Ty Conklin (Anchorage, Alaska) was named Hockey East Player of the Week Monday afternoon.
Conklin guided to the Wildcats to two non-conference victories against Notre Dame and North Dakota and helped UNH earn the Diamond Anniversary Conference Classic Championship. In the two games, Conklin stopped 65 of the 68 shots he faced, including a career-high 40 saves in UNH’s 6-2 victory over North Dakota. For his efforts, Conklin was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Overall this season, Conklin is 9-1-1 on the year with a 2.38 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. In Hockey East action, Conklin is undefeated with a 5-0-1 record and has posted a 1.78 goals against average with a .931 save percentage.
The Wildcats currently hold first-place in Hockey East with a 5-0-1 league mark and 10-2-1 mark overall. UNH plays against Lowell Friday night at the Whittemore Center and then travel to Lowell Saturday night.
