DURHAM, N.H.-- Matt Swain and Jason Shipulski each scored two goals to lead the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team (20-6-5, 12-4-5) to a 4-1 victory over the Boston College Eagles (19-9-1,11-7-1) Saturday night at the Whittemore Center.
With the scored tied at 1-1, Swain snapped the tie as he scored at 8:29 of the third period. Mike Souza came down the middle and passed it to Swain who then beat Scott Clemmensen through the legs to take the 2-1 lead. Swain gave the Wildcats a 3-1 lead with under two minutes to go when he took a pass from Souza and beat Clemmensen for his seventh goal of the season. Shipulski closed out the scoring with an empty net goal with 1:07 left in the third.
Ty Conklin played well in net stopping 30 shots for the Wildcats while Clemmensen ended with 23 saves.
Boston College opened the scoring at 11:59 of the first period when Ales Dolinar scored on a rebound off a Kyrs Kolanos shot to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.
New Hampshire came back and tied the game at 1-1 when Shipulski scored his eighth goal of the season at 10:38 of the second period. The goal snapped Clemmensen's streak of 214:50 minutes of scoreless play.
