Valladares Signs Pro Contract to Play in the LNBP

DURHAM, N.H.James Valladares (Kaufman, Texas), former center for the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team, recently signed a contract to play professionally with the Abejas de Guanajuato of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP).

"We are really happy for James. All of his hard work the past four years has paid off for him," said Bill Herrion, University of New Hampshire men's basketball head coach. "He was probably one of the most coachable players I've had in 20 years. We wish him the best of luck as he pursues his professional career."

Valladares played in 91 games, including four starts over his four years in a Wildcat uniform. He carved out a niche for himself as a role player, giving the 'Cats valuable minutes off the bench.

During his career, Valladares was a member of a class that has won 48 games, which is just one shy of the program's all-time record. This past season, he poured in a career-high 12 points on 5 of 7 shooting, including 2 of 4 from behind the arc, to nearly lead the Wildcats to an upset of seventh-ranked UConn on Nov. 30.

Valladares, who was named to the 2007-08 America East Commissioner's Honor Roll, recently graduated from UNH with a degree in Business Administration: Entrepreneurial Venture Creation.
