DURHAM, N.H. – James Valladares (Kaufman, Texas), former center for the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team, recently signed a contract to play professionally with the Abejas de Guanajuato of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP).
Valladares played in 91 games, including four starts over his four years in a Wildcat uniform. He carved out a niche for himself as a role player, giving the 'Cats valuable minutes off the bench.
During his career, Valladares was a member of a class that has won 48 games, which is just one shy of the program's all-time record. This past season, he poured in a career-high 12 points on 5 of 7 shooting, including 2 of 4 from behind the arc, to nearly lead the Wildcats to an upset of seventh-ranked UConn on Nov. 30.
Valladares, who was named to the 2007-08 America East Commissioner's Honor Roll, recently graduated from UNH with a degree in Business Administration: Entrepreneurial Venture Creation.
