DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team dropped a hard fought exhibition game to GT Express on Thursday at Lundholm Gymnasium, 93-92.
With time running out, Sophomore Marcus Bullock (Cherry Hill, N.J.) had a chance to win it for the Wildcats, but his three-point attempt with less than two seconds to go bounced off the rim. Senior Austin Ganly (N. Yarmouth, Maine) led the Wildcats with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
UNH led 52-50 at halftime behind 15 points from Ganly. Bullock had 11 of his 13 points in the first half. O'Neill Kamaka led all scorers for GT Express with 26 points.
The Wildcats outrebounded their opponents 50-45, most notably on the offensive glass where they held a 27 to six advantage. Of Ganly's 11 rebounds, six of them were offensive. Senior Chris Brown (Boston, Mass.) also enjoyed a strong night on the boards with nine rebounds, four offensive. Brown (10 points) and Sophomore Allen Gould (Grand Rapids, Mich.) with 13 points were the only other 'Cats in double figures.
Other top scorers for GT Express were Mark Passley with 18 points and Shane Nicely with 15.
The Wildcats next exhibition is Nov. 9 vs. Brooklyn Beasts. UNH opens the season Nov. 16 at Big East power Notre Dame.
