DURHAM, N.H.-Second-year head men's basketball coach Phil Rowe and his staff have completed their 2000-2001 recruiting class with the addition of small forward Allen Gould, a small forward out of New Hampton Prep (N.H.).
Gould, a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., recently signed a letter of intent and will begin attending classes at the University of New Hampshire in the fall.
At 6-6, 205-pounds, Gould is expected to toughen up the UNH squad defensively with his ability to guard both the three and four spots. Also an outstanding rebounder, he has the ability to score both in the paint and from the perimeter.
A starter last season at New Hampton, which is one of the top Class A schools in the region and the nation, Gould averaged 11.0 ppg. and 8.0 rpg. He also attended the Elan School in Maine.
The UNH men's basketball team will open the 2000-2001 campaign on Nov. 18 at the University of Buffalo and will play its first home contest on Nov. 29 vs. Stony Brook.
