DURHAM, N.H.—Senior University of New Hampshire gymnast Julie Sauchuk (Peabody, Mass.) was named EAGL Specialist of the Week for her outstanding efforts in UNH’s come-from-behind victory over EAGL rival North Carolina State on March 12.
Sauchuk, who performed in two events during Senior Night, tied for first place overall with a 9.85 in the floor exercise to lead her team to victory. UNH trailed the Wolfpack heading into the final rotation and she and five of her teammates all hit on their routines to lead the Wildcats to the 195.1-193.925 victory. UNH trailed after three rotations by a 146.525-145.950 margin.
Sauchuk also performed well on balance beam, recording her personal best of 9.75 in the event to tie for second place overall.
The team will compete in its final regular season meet of the season at Texas Woman’s University on Friday, March 19. UNH will be the host of the EAGL Championship on Sat., March 27. The meet begins at 2 p.m. in Lundholm Gym and tickets are available online at www.unhwildcats.com.
