CHELSEA STEINBERG NAMED EAGL GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
DURHAM, N.H.—Junior
gymnast Chelsea Steinberg (Ridgewood, N.J.) was
named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Co-Gymnast of the
Week following her outstanding efforts as an all-arounder in the
University of New Hampshire’s 194.975-188.30 victory over
Brown University on Feb. 12. The Wildcats are off to a strong start
to the 2010 season with an 8-1 overall record.
Steinberg took first place overall in the all-around with the best
four-event total by any EAGL gymnast this season, a career-best
39.350. Her score was also the third-highest mark of the season in
the Northeast Region. Steinberg placed first on vault with a score
of 9.85 to tie her personal best, fifth on bars with a personal
best 9.75, second on beam (9.85) and second on floor with a
personal-best 9.9.
Steinberg earned the honor along with West Virginia’s Amy
Bieski.
Steinberg and her teammates will return to action this weekend
when they travel to compete against Michigan State on Sat., Feb. 20
at 1 p.m. The squad will be the host of its next home meet on Sat.,
Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. Tickets for all UNH home meets are available
