DURHAM, N.H.—Junior University of New Hampshire gymnast Helena Diodati (Scarborough, Maine) received the East Atlantic Gymnastic League’s top honor on Tuesday morning when she was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week following her outstanding efforts in the Wildcats’ quad victory at Pitt on Jan. 17.
    Diodati recorded two first-place scores of 9.825, taking home top honors in both vault and uneven bars. She also posted an impressive mark of 9.775 on balance beam for the ‘Cats.
    Diodati was a key to UNH recording its highest team score of the young season, a 194.025.
    Thanks to the efforts of Diodati with her two first-place finishes, UNH was able to at least tie or win in all four events individually.
    The Wildcats are now 4-0 on the 2009 season and are third in the EAGL with an average score of 192.8.
    The Wildcats return to the road this weekend when they compete at Bridgeport with Yale on Jan. 24. The team returns home for a meet in Lundholm Gym on Sat., Jan. 31 vs. North Carolina. The meet begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are available at www.unhwildcats.com.
