COLUMBIA, MISSOURI - The University of New Hampshire women's gymnastics team had six gymnasts compete in the event finals portion of the Cat Classic hosted by the University of Missouri Saturday evening. Freshman Amanda Hall (Bremerton, Wash.) made her presence known, tying for first place on vault (9.875) and floor exercise (9.900).
Along with Hall, junior Tara Phillips (Spring, Texas) competed on vault, placing fifth with a 9.775. Senior captains Jen Dickson (Salisbury, Md.) and Michelle Harley (Collegeville, Pa.) competed on beam. Despite a fall, Dickson placed fourth with a 9.300, attempting a new skill, a lay-out, lay-out, while Harley placed third. Harley also competed on bars, tying of sixth place with a 9.675
Also competing for the Wildcats was sophomore Vanessa James (Malden, Mass.) and sophomore Vanessa Berrios (Long Pond, Pa.). Jame placed sixth with a 9.77 in the floor exercise. Berrios qualified for the beam with a 9.825 in the team meet on Friday but placed ninth in the finals with a 9.1 after a fall.
New Hampshire returns to action next weekend, Saturday, February 15th, as they host the Fox Run Invitational at the Whittemore Center. The meet begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are currently available by call the Whittemore Center Arena Box Office (603) 868-4000.
