DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire gymnastics team will host their 2002 home opener this Saturday (Jan. 19) as the 'Cats host the University of Rhode Island in a dual meet scheduled for 1 p.m. at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Wildcats are coming off a season-opening 190.600-189.150 victory last Thursday at Rutgers. Junior Jen Dickson (Salisbury, Md.) tied for first in the all-around competition with a 38.75 while tying for first on beam (9.775) and taking second on bars (9.725). Classmate Michelle Harley (Collegeville, Pa.) placed fourth in the all-around with a 38.425.
Senior Bethany Wagner (Bound Brook, N.J.) tied her career high on the floor in the Rutgers meet with a 9.85. Sophomore Crystal Beak (DeWitt, N.Y.) paced the field on the uneven bars with a career-best 9.75. New Hampshire took four of the top five spots on bars while posting a 48.350-46.075 win over the Scarlet Knights in the event.
Rhode Island will be looking for their first win of the season after opening the season with a 188.100-185.025 loss to Pittsburgh.
