FIELD HOCKEY ENTERS NATIONAL POLL AT #20

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The University of New Hampshire field hockey team entered the 2010 Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll for the first time this season at No. 20 in the poll that was released Tuesday. The Wildcats are 12-6 overall and sit atop the America East standings at 4-0.

UNH, which received votes all previous eight polls (including preseason) in 2010, is in the NFHCA poll for the first time since its No. 16 ranking in the final poll of the 2000 season, when the Wildcats advanced to the NCAA tournament and finished with 14 victories.

The 'Cats received 103 points to edge out the University of Massachusetts (87 points) for the final spot in this week's poll at #20.

New Hampshire concludes the regular season Oct. 30 (1 p.m.) at home against 15th-ranked University at Albany. The Senior Day game begins at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will win the America East regular-season title and be host of the league tournament Nov. 5-6.
