FIELD HOCKEY'S BOZEK NAMED AMERICA EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman back Megan Bozek (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. It marked the second consecutive week Bozek received this award.
Bozek, also a prominent part of UNH's offensive penalty corner unit, scored a goal in both of last week's games. Her first-half goal at Fairfield University on Oct. 22 lifted the Wildcats into a 1-1 tie and sparked the 'Cats to a 3-1 victory. With that win, UNH remained undefeated in America East action. Bozek also scored a goal in the 3-2 loss to 10th-ranked Louisville on Oct. 24. Her tally in the 60th minute trimmed UNH's deficit to one goal (3-2).
Bozek has started all 18 games in 2010. She has scored five goals – four at home – this season. Bozek also tallied a goal against Lock Haven, Harvard and Dartmouth.
UNH (12-6 overall, 4-0 America East) concludes the regular season Oct. 30 (1 p.m.) at home against the University at Albany. The winner of that game will capture the America East regular-season title and play host to the league tournament Nov. 5-6.
