TWO FIELD HOCKEY PLAYERS SELECTED TO JUNIOR FIELD HOCKEY CAMP
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.Brooke Bercari (Bordentown, N.J.) and Brittany Jacobs (Frederick, Md.) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team were selected to participate at the Junior National Camp, which was held July 5-8 at Babson College.

Their selection to this prestigious event was based on performance at the National Championships, the crowning event of the Futures Program that was held June 17-24. Both Bercari and Jacobs competed on the New England team at the National Championships and were two of 107 athletes selected from that pool of players to participate at the Junior National Camp.

The talented, young athletes in the Futures Program receive five months of elite-level training and tactical instruction in preparation for possible future selection to the USA National Teams. The top athletes from the program's more than 4,500 participants are then selected to compete at the national tournament based on performances in regional events.

Bercari played in all 18 games and was in the Wildcats’ starting lineup 15 times as a sophomore midfielder in 2006. She recorded her first collegiate goal with a tally against the University of Vermont and finished the season with two points.

Jacobs played in all 18 games and made 13 starts for the ‘Cats as a sophomore back in ’06. She excelled in that role after doing the same as a rookie midfielder in the 2005 season, a year in which she recorded four goals and an assist. Jacobs’ collegiate honors include 2005 America East All-Conference Second Team and two-time selection to the NFHCA Division I National All-Academic Squad.
