GLEN ALLEN, Va.  – Emily Colton (Milton, Mass.), a senior forward on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, was named to the 2006 NFHCA Division I Northeast Region Second Team on Monday.
Colton, who was named to the America East All-Conference First Team earlier this month, led UNH in goals (13), assists (five) and points (31) as well as shots (68) to rank second in the conference in shots per game (3.78) and fourth in both goals per game (0.72) and points per game (1.72). Colton is 22nd in the nation in goals per game.
In the last four games of her career, Colton amassed a total of seven goals, four assists and 18 points, including a four-goal, nine-point performance against University of Maryland-Baltimore County in the last game of the year. The four goals and nine points are both tied for the fourth-best single-game effort in the nation this season, and her three-assist performance at the University of Massachusetts is also tied for fourth.
During the season, Colton collected at least two points in nine games and scored in seven of UNH’s 18 contests.
Colton recorded 20 goals and 12 assists for 52 points in 62 career games. Her other collegiate accolades include a 2005 selection to the America East Academic Honor Roll.
UNH ended the 2006 season with back-to-back wins against UMass and UMBC.
