BOSTON -- Katie White (Glens Falls, N.Y.), a senior midfielder on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, was named Player of the Week by the America East conference on Monday.
White scored four goals last weekend, including three against Northwestern University, to lead UNH to a split against Big 10 foes Indiana University (2-1 loss) and Northwestern (4-3 win). White's second-half goals 63 seconds apart early in the second half erased a 3-1 deficit and propelled New Hampshire to a 4-3 win. Her other tally of the game pulled UNH within 2-1 in the first half. White scored the team's only goal in the 2-1 loss to Indiana.
White is tied for the team lead in goals with four and her eight points ranks second. In 54 career games, White has 30 goals, which ranks tied for eighth with Caroline Coyne (1995-98) on UNH's career goals list. White has also ascended to No. 15 on the program's all-time points list with 62.
UNH (2-11, 0-2 America East) returns to action Oct. 13 (7 p.m.) at Massachusetts. The Wildcats' next home game is Oct. 15 vs. Albany. Game time at Memorial Field is 3 p.m.
