Kaitlyn Skelley

With the score tied 1-1, UNH goalkeeper Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) stopped the initial shot by Ashley Choren but Knutson was in front to one-time the rebound into the cage and give the Big Green a 2-1 lead at 16:26.

DC's Abby Brown hit the right post with two minutes remaining in the first half and the visitors took a 2-1 lead into halftime. Knutson struck again just 3:24 into the second half -- this time she redirected a hit by Katy Hagy into the cage -- to extend Dartmouth's lead to 3-1.

UNH recorded a 9-6 shot advantage in the second half as well as a 10-3 edge in penalty corners, but could not trim the deficit.

Buckley finished with five saves and allowed three goals in 43:04 of action. Margaux Shute (Norridgewock, Maine) played the final 26:56 in goal and held the Big Green scoreless with one save. DC goalie Lauren Balukjian was credited with four saves.

DC (4-6) took a 1-0 lead at 11:22 when Shala Byers' through ball to the top of the circle was corralled by Ashley Choren and shot into the cage. UNH responded with a goal 65 seconds later, however, when a centering pass from the right corner by Caitlin Gillen (New Preston, Conn.) was swept into the cage by Kaitlyn Skelley (Wolfeboro, N.H.).

Knutson's first tally of the game marked the third goal in a span of 5:04 and gave Dartmouth a lead it would not relinquish.

New Hampshire (1-10, 0-2 America East) returns to action Oct. 9 vs. Indiana University. The next Wildcat home game is Oct. 15 vs. Albany. Game time at Memorial Field is 3 p.m.
