Maine (9-3 overall, 2-0 America East) quickly took a 1-0 lead when Shaunessy Saucier scored 2:16 into the game. Amie Dubois extended the advantage to 2-0 on an untimed penalty corner at the end of the first half.

UNH trimmed the deficit to 2-1 at 55:50 when Caitlin Gillen (New Preston, Conn.) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The Black Bears reestablished a two-goal lead less than three minutes later, however, when Joanna Fernandes scored on a penalty corner at 58:17.

Wildcat goalkeeper Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) recorded seven saves while Maine counterpart Jamie Morin was credited with two saves.

New Hampshire (1-9, 0-2 America East) returns to action at home Oct. 6 vs. Dartmouth College. Game time at Memorial Field is 7 p.m.
